The First Families of Ohio (FFO) is a lineage society recognizing descendants of individuals who settled in Ohio by 1820.
John Cranston and his family settled near Columbus, Ohio in 1815.
FFO is administered by the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS) that honors descendants of the earliest settlers in the state. Membership is open to any OGS member who can prove direct descent from an ancestor who resided in the area now encompassed by Ohio between January 1, 1803, and December 31, 1820. This society celebrates pioneer families and preserves genealogical records for future generations. It is most likely one of the most prestigious societies of its kind in the United States – equivalent to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
In order to become a member, you have to be a member of the Ohio Geneological Society (OGS) and then fill out an application form to document the Cranston lineage from yourself to John Cranston. That should be relatively easy to do.
The information about the OGS and the application form can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
If anyone is interested in joining the FFO, please preserve your documentation and share it with others who might share the same interest.
